Dubai International Boat Show gives berth to new investments

The world’s finest super yachts sail into Dubai

High-net-worth individuals from across the region are gearing up for the 2016 Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS).

Held at the Dubai International Marine Club from March 1 to 5, this annual event is the Middle East’s biggest marine leisure exhibition, showcasing more than 430 super yachts and luxury leisure craft.

With world-class suppliers and distributors from across the maritime spectrum, the show offers an excellent forum in which to discuss market trends and purchase investment assets.

Philip Bryson, Marriott International’s Senior Vice President for Operations visited DIBS in 2015. He says, “Whether you’re looking for boat engines, accessories or billion-dollar super yachts, this show has everything.”

Last year, the event attracted more than 26,500 visitors, of which approximately 5,000 were wealthy investors. This year, the show’s 24th edition is set to attract many more, including royal dignitaries, international business owners and individuals from leading blue-chip companies. Organisers hope that property magnates including Oryx World Portfolio investors will attend.

Beyond exclusive vessels, however, what else can visitors expect? With 850 international exhibitors from more than 50 countries, a great deal. Interactive activities include fishing and sailing trips, jetski stunts, match races, and casting and winching competitions.

Underwater photographers can also take their cameras into the Gulf and go eye to eye with the region’s most fascinating creatures. Afterwards, they can enter their favourite shots in the DIBS underwater photography competition, open to all divers.

There are also segments on sailing, fishing and watersports with interactive zones featuring the latest products and live demonstrations.

For yachting enthusiasts who have a passion for cars, there is a supercar promenade. Here, visitors can view and purchase the world’s most exclusive automobiles from brands such as Bentley, McLaren and Mercedes-Benz.

Finally, by strict invitation only, elite guests can visit the VIP majlis. A lavish platform in which to negotiate business in keeping with the region’s traditions, the venue welcomes royalty, high-net-worth individuals, ministers and ambassadors. Majlis and VIP members receive exclusive access to the show and a host of benefits.
